About ME

Hello!

I’m a radio and print freelance journalist and photographer based in San Francisco, California. I’m a contributing reporter to KALW public radio, including its podcast series BOUNCE. I’ve also reported and written about local government, including transportation, homelessness, and the environment.

I’ve taken part in several wonderful fellowships including the Institute for Journalism and Natural Resources California Coast, Ocean + Climate Workshop, the USC Annenberg Center for Health Journalism Impact Fund Fellowship , and the Annenberg Center for Health Journalism Data Journalism Fellowship, where I looked into the contracting practices of San Francisco’s homelessness department.

My recent work has focused on issues such as sea level rise, which I’ve covered for Inside Climate News and The San Francisco Public Press, Bay Nature, and The Frisc, along with radio pieces for KALW’s BOUNCE on how WNBA players build their own brands and an upcoming installment about the local National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) team, Bay FC.

Other science and environmental stories I’ve covered include the work to help the Sierran chorus frog make a comeback, the efforts of the city to increase its canopy of street trees, the reservations a long-neglected SF neighborhood over a new waterfront park, and a profile of a group trying to develop an open-source insulin for the program Making Contact.

But it’s not all serious issues. I’ve covered sports, including this award-winning piece for KALW’s Crosscurrents on the Bay Area Vintage Baseball league as well as the Bay Area Pro-AM basketball league for radio and for print.
